GRP Lining (Glass Reinforced Plastic Lining)

GRP Lining (Glass Reinforced Plastic Lining)

GRP lining waterproofing (Glass Reinforced Plastic lining) is a high-performance, seamless waterproofing system that consists of a resin-based coating reinforced with fiberglass (glass fibres) to form a strong, rigid, and fully bonded protective membrane over concrete, masonry, or steel surfaces.
The system is applied in multiple layers, where the reinforcement is embedded within the resin to enhance tensile strength, crack-bridging ability, and long-term durability. Once cured, it creates a joint-free, chemically resistant, and watertight barrier that effectively protects structures from water ingress, corrosion, and chemical attack.
GRP lining is widely used in demanding waterproofing applications such as water tanks, sewage tanks, basements, wet areas, and industrial structures, where high durability and long service life are required. Its excellent adhesion to substrates and ability to withstand harsh environmental conditions make it a reliable solution for critical waterproofing systems.

Application Procedure

Substrate Preparation & Moisture Analysis
Perform mechanical grinding or grit blasting to achieve an open-pore texture, ensuring the surface is free of contaminants and moisture levels are below 5% before proceeding.
Resin Priming & Bond Enhancement
Apply a high-penetration resin primer to the prepared surface to anchor the system and ensure maximum adhesion between the substrate and the GRP laminate.
Fiberglass Reinforcement & Saturation
Lay the Chopped Strand Mat (CSM) into a wet bed of catalyzed resin, using ribbed rollers to thoroughly saturate fibers and eliminate all trapped air pockets.
Lamination Layering & Consolidation
Apply subsequent layers of resin and glass reinforcement to achieve the specified thickness, ensuring a dense, void-free composite structure across the entire area.
Surface Refinement & Smoothing
Once cured, sand down any glass protrusions or sharp “needles” to create a uniform surface profile ready for the final protective finishing.
Top Coat (Flow Coat) Application
Apply a final pigmented, tack-free resin coating to provide UV protection, enhance chemical resistance, and deliver a smooth, aesthetic finish to the lining.
Holiday Testing & Final Certification
Conduct a high-voltage spark test (Holiday Test) to detect any microscopic pinholes, ensuring a 100% watertight customization of the protective barrier.
